Step up to renewable energy for the future

Group Suerickx takes the next step in its climate strategy

In the construction sector, attention to the environment and climate responsibility is becoming increasingly important. At the same time, society expects companies to report transparently on their emissions and take demonstrable steps toward reduction. For us, sustainability is an obvious strategic choice to make the organization future-proof and contribute to collective climate goals.

We are committed to mapping and reducing our own carbon footprint in a transparent and systematic manner. In collaboration with consultancy firm Sustacon, a baseline measurement was carried out for 2024. Total emissions amount to 581.97 tons of CO₂. The vast majority (96%) is attributable to scope 1 emissions, mainly caused by the vehicle fleet (75%) and activities on the construction sites (17%). Emissions from office activities represent approximately 8% of total emissions.

We have set ourselves the goal of reducing emissions by 36% by 2030. This ambition is in line with the broader transition in the construction sector and requires a consistent approach to energy efficiency, greener mobility, and rational use of fossil fuels.

The results of this measurement form an important starting point for the first sustainability report, which will be published shortly. This report will be prepared in accordance with the VSME framework, so that all relevant environmental indicators are reported in a clear and comparable manner.
