During an inspection, significant concrete damage was found on both the walls and the ceiling of the structure.
Since the wastewater basin is in constant use, the concrete pit could not simply be entered. Prior to the renovation work, important preparatory measures had to be taken, including the diversion of the entire pumping system. For this purpose, a temporary installation was set up to discharge the wastewater directly to the water treatment plant. This diversion was essential to ensure that the work could be carried out safely and to a high standard.

Challenge and approach

The renovation work includes:
- Removal of existing concrete damage using hydrodemolition.
- Renewal and local replacement of reinforcement.
- Application of shotcrete in various layer thicknesses on the damaged areas.
- Renewal of several technical passages.
- Installation of two new water collection pits.
- Protection of the entire basin with a chemically resistant coating to prevent future degradation.

Project challenges and results
The main challenges were the limited time frame, difficult accessibility, and actively monitoring groundwater levels during the works.
Thanks to good preparation, close cooperation with the customer, and efficient execution, the project was successfully completed within the set deadline.
